Game Summaries for Minor Hockey/Ringette

Warriors Undefeated In Preseason

The Hinton McDonalds Warriors atom 1 hockey team came back from 5-1 down in an Oct. 27 home game against Wabasca to earn an 8-8 tie and stay undefeated to close out the preseason schedule.

Reed Fellows had a hat-trick and the Warriors also had one goal and one assist each form Ryker Hollingsworth, Cohen Moulun and Deacon Barnes. Colby Hill and Dason Brettner rounded out the goal scoring for Hinton while Blake Batog and Lucas Roberston had a pair of assists each and Lincoln Kos added one of his own. Brayden Benson made 23 stops in net for Hinton.

Robertson led the way with a hat-trick the previous day in a 6-1 home win over Whitecourt, while Barnes added a goal and an assist and Fellows and Cournoyer had one goal each. Hollingsworth had a pair of assists, while Burke Dammann, Moulun and Batog had one assist each. Treyton Matheson made 17 saves in net for Hinton.

Nighthawks Split Games

The Hinton McDonalds Nighthawks atom 2 hockey team scored seven goals in the second period to build an insurmountable lead in a 12-3 home win Oct. 26 over Edson. Forrest Kilthau had five goals for Hinton, while Ty Kapatch (three goals and two assists), Jack Richards (two goals, three assists) and Griffin Lepage (five assists) also had five-point games. Landon Dormuth and Chase Jahnke rounded out the scoring for Hinton and Sidney Repecka, Reese Couture and Ryker Michie had two assists, while Axton Aspell and Chance Thompson added one assist each. Rogue Smith and Brayden Daniels split duties in making 27 stops in net.

Hinton didn’t fare as well the following day in Fox Creek, falling behind 5-0 in what was a 9-6 loss. Patrick Doyle had a goal and an assist and Hinton also had single goals from Nathan White, Kapatch, Jahnke, Kilthau and Thompson, while Richards had an assist. 

Gladiators Lose Late

The Hinton Gus’ Pizza Gladiators peewee 1 hockey team gave up a power play goal with 1:57 remaining in the game in Devon and lost 3-2 on Oct. 26. Tristan Tymchyshyn and Morgan Thomas scored for Hinton, while Liam Parker and Ryder Kulbacki had one assist each. Aizik Gomuwka made 11 stops in net for Hinton.

Undefeated Weekend For Heat

Aiden Durocher scored with 22 seconds left to give the Hinton Alstar Heat peewee 2 hockey team a 7-6 win over visiting Drayton Valley on Oct. 27. Lucas McDonald led the way with two goals and four assists, while Austin Kile had two goals and two assists of his own and Jacob Thompson rounded out the goal scorers for Hinton with a pair. Cohen Mumby, Ben Pratt and Wyatt Malo added one assist each while Carter Lehoux and James McKay made 22 combined saves in the win.

Malo had a pair of goals in a 4-4 draw with Edson on home ice on Oct. 25. Ethan Viney and McDonald had the other goals for Hinton, while Carter Lypkie had one assist and McKay and Lehoux combined for 28 total saves in the game.

Bantams Bested By Fort Mac

The Hinton Minich Oilfield bantam 1 hockey squad gave up a pair of third-period goals that were the difference in a 5-3 home loss Oct. 27 to Fort McMurray. Rylan Koch and Kayden Hollett each had a goal and an assist, while Ethan Ramsey scored the other Hinton goal. Landon Legary, Kale Hunt and Owen Tredwin added assists, while Gavin Gomuwka made 22 stops in net.

Bantams Win Close Game

The Hinton OK Tire bantam 2 hockey team built a 5-2 lead in an Oct. 26 home game and held on in the third period for a 5-4 win over Edson. Ari Beauchamp had a pair of goals, including the winner on a strong drive to the net, and added an assist in the game. Gavin Kilthau added a goal and an assist and Josh Hearsey and Tori Thompson had one goal each, while Keegan Plante added one assist and Ethan Spalek made 18 saves in net.

Midgets Take Two

The Hinton Pembina Pipelines midget hockey squad notched a pair of 5-2 home wins on the weekend to close out the preseason schedule. Gage Rahall had a three-point game to lead Hinton in the Oct. 26 win over the CR Knights, and both Seth Symchych and Jaydan Hohlbein added a goal and an assist. Lucas and Landon Descheneau also scored for Hinton, while Ethan Jahnke, Zachary Jones and Nolan Macpherson had one assist each and Clink Clark made 21 saves in net. 

Cole Whitford had a pair of goals in the second period and Ethan Bambrick added a pair of his own in the third period to help Hinton beat Onoway the following day. Hohlbein had the other Hinton goal, Clint Clark and Kaelan Koch added two assists each, and Jahnke and Macpherson had one assist apiece in the win. Goalie Riley Mills made 34 stops in net.
