It’s hard to put too much into preseason success, but Hinton Timberwolves fans have to be happy with how things are going heading into the organization’s regular season kick off this coming weekend.

Hinton dominated last year’s division champs – the Edson Aeros – in an 8-1 home win to close out the preseason Sept. 28.

The Timberwolves stayed undefeated with the win, finishing the preseason with a 2-0 record, and look to continue it’s winning ways when the regular season opens Oct. 4 in Edson. The Aeros return to Bill Thomson Arena on Oct. 5 to close out the home and home series between the two teams.

Mario Decapite led the way Sept. 28 with two goals and two assists for the Timberwolves, while Jamahl Eakett and Brayden Harper – who were both acquired from the Bellingham Blazers in a summer trade – scored two goals apiece and Alim Darmenov had one goal and one assist.

Returning defenceman Dawson Basnett had the other Hinton goal, while fellow returning blueliner Dorian Hall had four assists.

Logan Arsenault had two assists in the win, brother Jakob had one assist, as did Max Sturko, Damon Belcourt and Dimitri Buttazoni.

Antoine Saint-Onge had Edson’s lone goal with assists from Tyler Villanueva and Maverick Braxtrom.

The Barrhead Bombers host the Cold Lake Hornets in other opening weekend action around the Provincial Division, while the Meadow Lake Mustangs open their season at home on Oct. 11 against Cold Lake.
